Michael Polen

Michael Polen has been a healthcare executive for over 15 years. Michael is currently the CEO of Physician Partners, a position they have held since August 2021.

Prior to their current role, Polen served as the Senior Vice President, National Medicare CEO at Centene Corporation from January 2020 to August 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the national Medicare business with 1.2 million members and $14 billion in revenue. During their tenure at Centene, Polen led the transformation of the Medicare business, resulting in membership and revenue growth of 32%, profit growth of 270%, and becoming the highest growth MA plan in the industry.

Before joining Centene, Polen spent over 14 years at WellCare Health Plans, where they served as Executive Vice President, National Medicare CEO (2016 - 2020) and Enterprise Operations (2013-2020). In their role as National Medicare CEO, they oversaw a $7 billion Medicare business with 550,000+ members across 21 states. Under Polen's leadership, the business grew revenue by 87% and turned a profit of $300 million in just four years. As head of Enterprise Operations, they were responsible for a team of 8,000+ employees who managed customer service, member and provider communications, enrollment & billing, claims, contract configuration, encounters, payment integrity, member retention and national network. During their time at WellCare, Polen successfully scaled operations as the company grew from $10 billion to $28 billion in revenue.
