Marisol Ochoa-Villarreal

Marisol Ochoa-Villarreal, PhD, is a Research and Development Scientist at Phyton Biotech since May 2021. Prior experience includes serving as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The University of Edinburgh, where project management skills were demonstrated by developing cell suspension cultures and securing grant funding. Marisol has contributed to three peer-reviewed journal publications and led strategic planning as an Entrepreneurial Lead for the ICURe Business Incubator, resulting in £300 K in grant funding. A background in systems-oriented research was cultivated at various institutions, including The University of Edinburgh, where Marisol focused on plant molecular biology. Marisol holds a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from The University of Edinburgh, a Master's in Plant Sciences, and a Bachelor's in Biochemical Engineering, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving throughout a diverse career in academia and industry.
