Michiel de Jong

Michiel De Jong is an accomplished professional in the fields of climate resilience and maritime consultancy, currently serving as Vice Chairman of PIANC RecCom since June 2023 and as Business Unit Director at Royal HaskoningDHV since July 2012. In this role, Michiel leads five advisory groups in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, focusing on global leading markets such as Climate Resilience, Renewables, and Maritime. Michiel has extensive experience managing significant maritime projects worldwide, including coastal port developments and waterfront planning in Kuwait, New Zealand, China, and Mauritius. Michiel holds a civil engineering degree from Delft University of Technology and has also contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer at the same institution. Previously, Michiel held various senior positions at DHV, specializing in ports and waterways consulting.
