Gertraud Hechl is an accomplished Art Consultant with extensive experience since October 1993, including expert appraisals for the WETA Boston "Antiques Road Show," as well as insurance and private appraisals. Gertraud has been involved in the translation and publication of several books on antique watches and clocks for Schiffer Publishing and Verlag Callwey. Additional roles have included serving as a Major Gifts Officer at the Piedmont Environmental Council since July 2019 and working as a Consultant and Representative at Bonhams from 2012 to January 2022, focusing on business development in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior experience includes roles at Sotheby's, where responsibilities encompassed cataloging for New York and Geneva auctions and providing client services in decorative arts. Gertraud holds a Master's degree in Strategic Management from Vienna University of Economics and Business, along with previous education at Höhere Technische Bundeslehranstalt Schellinggasse and Bundesgymnasium für Mädchen.

The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is a community supported, locally focused 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that has proudly promoted and protected the natural resources, rural economy, history and beauty of the Virginia Piedmont since 1972. PEC empowers residents to protect what makes the Piedmont a wonderful place, and works with citizens to conserve land, protect air and water quality, celebrate historic resources, build smart transportation networks, promote sustainable energy choices, restore wildlife habitat and improve people’s access to nature. Headquartered in Warrenton, VA, we have offices throughout a nine county Piedmont region that includes Albemarle, Clarke, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Loudoun, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties.
