Misty H. currently serves as a Visiting Professor at Valparaiso University since August 2023, bringing extensive experience in mental health counseling and instruction. Misty has held roles as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Pillars of Wellness Inc. and the Lake County Sheriff's Department, contributing to mental health services since February 2021 and October 2020, respectively. Previous experience includes positions at YMCA and Parkdale Center for Professionals as a Yoga Instructor, as well as a Qualified Mental Health Staff role at Lake County Jail Mental Health. Misty has also served as an Executive Assistant to the Porter County Bar Association and has completed several internships in clinical mental health counseling. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Holy Cross and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Valparaiso University, among other relevant degrees.

Pillars of Wellness was founded on an approach to mental health that appreciates the many facets of the human experience, namely wellness in mind, body and spirit. Pillars of Wellness draws on the three pillars of health in mind, body and spirit. This holistic approach to wellness utilizes evidence based approaches, specifically interventions related to the care of the mind or psyche. The mind is influenced by the body and the body influenced by the mind. By placing value on the whole person, our interventions aim to help our clients develop and maintain a healthier and more fulfilling life.
