Frank Smyth

Co-Founder and CTO at Pilot Photonics

Frank Smyth has held a variety of roles since 2000. Frank's first role was as an Engineering Intern at Masonite in 2000. Frank then moved on to become an IT Support Engineer at Access Computer Solutions in 2001, followed by a Network Engineer role at EDS in 2003. In 2007, they were an Engineering Intern at Bell Labs. From 2009 to 2013, they were a Research Fellow at Dublin City University. From 2013 to 2015, they were Executive Director at CTVR - The Telecommunications Research Centre, as well as Executive Director of the CONNECT Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin. From 2011 to 2015, they were Co-Founder and CTO of Pilot Photonics, and Co-Founder and Executive Director of the CONNECT Centre. Frank was also Co-Founder and CEO of Pilot Photonics from 2013 to 2015.

Frank Smyth obtained their PhD in Optical Telecommunication from Dublin City University in 2008, following a M.Eng in the same field from the same university in 2003, and a B.Eng in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University in 2001.
