Matthew Elan Smith

Matthew Elan Smith is the Co-Founder of Pineapple. Matthew was previously an Actuarial Analyst at Journey Re from April 2015 to July 2016, where they were responsible for data preparation, manipulation and analysis in support of strategic decisions, underwriting and pricing analysis, calculating SAM technical provisions and standard formula, developing, maintaining and compiling management dashboards, developing, implementing and refining pricing models, developing actuarial systems and reports, conducting reinsurance analysis, and contributing to the development of ORSA and capital solutions.

Matthew Elan Smith has a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science & Mathematical Statistics from the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as certification in Design Thinking from BearingPoint and Etherium Certification from Blockchain Academy (Pty) Ltd.
