CarolAnne Black tells ocean stories. She is the founder and owner of CarolAnne Black, Consulting Science Writers. Her business supports the understanding and connection with the global ocean, and to empower women and girls and underrepresented groups in the ocean sector, such as people from Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States. CarolAnne has expertise in stakeholder engagement, bringing together the voices of people from around the globe to help us better understand who is doing and leading ocean science. She is committed to collaborative work; she engages clients and stakeholders throughout all project phases. CarolAnne holds a masters of science (M.Sc.) in physical oceanography and a bachelor’s in physics. She has over ten years experience as a writer and an interviewer—particularly of ocean science leaders—and she is an expert listener.
CarolAnne believes equitable access to health, play and physical activity, education, and professional opportunities are the foundation for unleashing people’s full potential. She believes these are essential to fighting the climate crisis and supporting the global and local communities. Most of CarolAnne’s work takes place where policy-making and the ocean meet, and her projects reflect the respect she feels for the people she engages with, as well as the need to make available reports, articles and other communications media that people will want to read.
