Cathryn Garcia-Menocal has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the fields of design, architecture, and education. Cathryn is currently working as a Design Director at Pink Sparrow since 2022. Prior to this, they founded their own studio called Garcia-Menocal Studio in 2021.

From 2018 to 2021, Garcia-Menocal worked at Supermatic, where they held multiple roles including Project Director for a COVID-19 Initiative, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager. Cathryn'sresponsibilities included leading a team in the fabrication of face shields for the city of New York, as well as managing various building projects, client acquisition, and interior fit-out for clients such as Cooper Hewitt / Smithsonian Design Museum, Nike, and Ralph Lauren.

Cathryn'sprevious experience includes working as an Architectural Designer at Joeb Moore & Partners LLC, where they were involved in the design and construction of high-end residential projects in the New York area. Cathryn also worked as a Designer at the Yale Urban Design Workshop, where they contributed to design projects.

Additionally, Garcia-Menocal has teaching experience as a Teaching Fellow at Yale University, where they taught courses related to art history and visualization. Cathryn also worked as a Project Architect at KRAM WEISSHAAR AB and as an Architecture Specialist at designboom magazine, where they curated and published articles on architecture and design.

In 2011, they founded and led the first-ever Architecture Brigade from Washington University, overseeing the construction of a school in Honduras and leading a design competition for a healthcare center. Cathryn also gained experience at Washington University in St. Louis, where they worked in the Sam Fox School Digital Fabrication Lab, overseeing machine operations and optimizing files for fabrication. Overall, Garcia-Menocal has a strong background in design, architecture, and education, with a focus on various project types and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Cathryn Garcia-Menocal completed their education in architecture with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Architecture and Sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis in the years 2008 to 2012. Cathryn pursued further studies at Yale University, where they obtained a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree in the field of Architecture from 2014 to 2017. In addition to their academic achievements, they also obtained a C-15 Certificate of Fitness for Flame Treatment from the New York City Fire Department in February 2019.
