Kate Schmitz has a diverse work experience in the marketing and digital fields. Kate started their career in 2006 as the Director of Web Development at Milesbrand Agency, where they handled digital work for clients such as Shea Homes and Mediterra. In 2008, they founded their own company, Kate Jensen Interactive, which specialized in providing digital services to advertising agencies and start-ups. Kate then joined Cactus Marketing Communications in 2011 as the VP of Digital & Content Production, where they led the digital strategy for clients and oversaw agency-wide production. In 2015, they joined Transamerica as the Head of Brand & Digital, managing the company's brand and digital initiatives. Their most recent role was as the Chief Marketing Officer at Pinnacol Assurance, where they focused on providing workers' compensation insurance and saving customers money through rate-setting and safety programs.

Kate Schmitz attended the University of Colorado Boulder - Leeds School of Business, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management, with a focus on General studies. In addition to their university education, they have also obtained several certifications, including Access Denver from the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation in February 2020, 40 under 40 from the Denver Business Journal in March 2019, and the Executive Leadership Program (ELP) from the American Association of Advertising Agencies in May 2014.
