Son Tran

Son Tran began their career in 1995 as a Web Master at Destination Marketing Group (DMG). In 2000, they moved to The Collective as a Web Design Manager where they were responsible for UX/UI and front end coding of various websites. Son also developed Flash based applications and prepped and converted PSD/creative files into web ready assets. In 2003, Son Tran joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as a Web Designer and designed the UX/UI for the michigan.org website along with MEDC's business development sites. Son also supported overall design, marketing and content strategies for Travel Michigan partners and CVBs. In 2004, Son Tran started blogging to keep track of their recipes, and in three months they were averaging 30,000 visitors/mo. Son learned a lot from the experience. In 2008, Son Tran founded Pitch Black Media and acted as a hired gun for agencies across the country. As word of mouth spread, the majority of their work happened in Michigan, with clients covering a range of small businesses to agencies and corporate to non-profit.

Son Tran obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Advertising from Western Michigan University - Haworth College of Business between 1990 and 1995. In January 2022, they obtained a Section4 Certified Strategist certification from Section4.
