Burt Jennings has a range of experience in the transportation and safety industry. Burt served as the Chief Safety Officer at Pittsburgh Regional Transit since 2016. Prior to this, they held multiple roles at Port Authority of Allegheny County, including Manager of Safety, Rail Operations and Facilities, Senior Safety Specialist for Light Rail Transit, and Transit Coach Operator. Before their work in transportation, they worked as a Firefighter and Emergency Technician at Weirton Steel Corporation.

Burt Jennings MSM, WSO-CSE, PTSCTP has a Master of Science degree in Safety Management from West Virginia University. Burt earned this degree from 2008 to 2010. Burt also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from West Liberty University, which they completed from 1984 to 1987. In addition to their degrees, they also have certifications as a PTSCTP from the Federal Transit Administration and as a Graduate Safety Professional from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
