Michael Heidkamp has over 30 years of work experience in various roles within the transportation and automotive industry. Michael is currently the Chief Operating Officer-Transportation at Pittsburgh Regional Transit, a position they have held since April 2020. Prior to this, they worked at the Port Authority of Allegheny County for over 25 years, where they held several roles including Deputy Chief Operations Officer-Transportation, Director of Service and Delivery, Manager of Non-Revenue Vehicles and Way Department, Instructor/CDL examiner, and Bus Operator. Before their career in transportation, they worked as a Lead Technician at Wright Automotive and an Auto Mechanic at Downtown Pontiac.

Michael Heidkamp obtained their High School diploma in Auto Mechanic from Brashear High School in the years 1977-1980. Michael also holds additional certifications such as a State Inspection License from the State of Pennsylvania obtained in February 1982, a Certified Track Inspector certification from the University of Wisconsin-Madison obtained in 2008, and a Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching certification received in 2023 from the Marshall Goldsmith institution.
