Courtney Wade has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Courtney began their career at Voices of Reform, where they served as a Voices of Reform Fellow, developing and organizing programs related to key California governance reform issues. Courtney then moved on to Obama for America, where they worked as a Deputy Press Secretary, pitching and planning press coverage for earned media events and building relationships with the press.
Afterwards, Courtney joined the Presidential Inaugural Committee as part of the Political Team. Courtney then worked at Blue Engine Message & Media as a Program Manager, where they served as a liaison with the Obama administration and provided strategic communications for corporations, non-profits, and advocacy groups.
Courtney then transitioned to Gap Inc., where they held various roles in Government and Public Affairs, including Communications Specialist and Manager. In these positions, they were responsible for protecting and enhancing the company's reputation, managing relationships with media outlets, and developing strategic communication plans to highlight corporate social responsibility and sourcing leadership.
Most recently, Courtney has been working at Pivotal Ventures, an investment and incubation company created by Melinda French Gates. In their current role as Senior Director, Executive Communications and Media, they partner with organizations and individuals who share the company's urgency for social progress in the United States.
Courtney Wade completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2004 to 2008. In 2007, they participated in a Semester at Sea program at the University of Virginia. Additionally, in 2005, they also pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
