John Sage

John Sage is an experienced executive with a diverse background in leadership roles across various sectors. Currently serving as Senior Advisor to Melinda French Gates at Pivotal Ventures since January 2015, John has held significant positions including Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Previously, John was Chief of Staff to Co-Chair Melinda Gates at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on global communications strategies. As a co-founder and partner at 6h Consulting, John specialized in business planning and strategy consulting for philanthropic clients. John also co-founded Pura Vida Coffee, spearheading its growth as a specialty coffee company committed to social enterprise. Earlier career highlights include serving as Sr. VP of Marketing and Business Development at Starwave and as Group Product Manager at Microsoft, where John contributed to the marketing of key software products. John holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA with Honors from Stanford University.
