Jim Williams recently retired as Chairman of Williams + Paddon, Architects + Planners, Inc. One of the largest and most reputable architecture firms in the Metropolitan area, Williams + Paddon is known for the quality of their design work and their leadership in sustainable design. His 32 year career with the company he co-founded in 1981 includes significant accomplishments in both civic affairs and business.

Jim’s civic leadership includes serving as President of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce in 1993, three terms on the Sacramento Metropolitan Board of Directors, including serving as Vice-Chair for Regional Policy, as an Executive Board member of SACTO, the Urban Land Institute, as Co-Chair of the Region’s Partnership for Prosperity, as Chairman of the Board for Valley Vision and as President of the Board for South Placer Municipal Utility District.

In 1996, Jim was elected to serve on the Placer County Board of Supervisors where he served on numerous commissions and committees critical to maintaining their quality of life and a healthy economy. In 1994, he was honored with the Private Sector Award by the Placer County Economic Development Board for his efforts to streamline approval processes for job creating businesses. Jim was recognized by SACOG as Citizen of the Year in 2004 for his outreach efforts associated with the Sacramento Region’s Blueprint Project, and was selected Business Person of the Year in 2005 by the Roseville Chamber of Commerce. He was honored by the Sacramento Metro Chamber with the 2007 Peter McCuen Award for Civic Entrepreneurs.
