Jason Drapala

Jason Drapala has been working in the technology industry since 1989. Jason began their career as an Electronics Technician at Dalec Controls, where they were responsible for assembling, calibrating and customizing industrial control sensor systems. In 1994, they became a Research Assistant at the Illinois Institute of Technology. In 1996, they moved to Outlook Consulting, where they were a Software Developer and performed web and Sun system administration. In 2000, they became a Senior Database Architect at Classified Ventures. From 2009 to 2016, they were the Lead Database Architect at HomeFinder.com, where they were responsible for the performance, availability, security, and disaster preparedness of 10TB of data stores. Finally, from 2016 to present, they have been the Sr DevOps Engineer at Placester, Inc., where they have successfully converted a start-up quality development sandbox environment of 50 ec2 instances into a proper integration testing environment, planned and deployed Puppet management for 200 servers, developed and deployed ChatOps functionality using Slack (Hubot), CloudFormation and various supporting scripts, and authored Python and Perl applications.

Jason Drapala obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology between 1992 and 1996. Jason has also obtained certifications from Amazon Web Services and Code School.
