Shaashawn Dial has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles.
Shaashawn is currently the Director of Education & Community Relations at Planned Parenthood Great Plains since December 2021.
Before that, they founded Voycetress Media, LLC in 2015, offering consulting services related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
From 2019 to 2021, they served as the Inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Stephens College.
Shaashawn also worked as the Director of Equity & Affirmative Action at the City of Harrisburg from 2017 to 2019, monitoring compliance with anti-discrimination laws and regulations.
At Central Penn College, they held multiple roles including College Advising Director, Sports Announcer, Lead College Advisor & First Year Experience Coordinator, and Adjunct Professor, providing academic and support services to students.
Shaashawn co-founded and served as the Editor-In-Chief of STUDS Magazine from 2007 to 2011, a publication focused on showcasing diverse identities.
Prior to that, they worked at Cumulus Media Inc. as a Program Director and Hostess of the Shaashawn Dial Show and at WHBG-TV 20 as the Host of The Harrisburg View.
Shaashawn started their career in 1999 at YWCA of Greater Harrisburg as the Life Skills Development Coordinator and later as a Public Relations/Marketing Assistant.
Throughout their career, Shaashawn Dial has focused on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing support and advocacy for marginalized communities, and creating inclusive spaces.

In 1994, they enrolled in Stephens College and graduated in 1998 with a B.A. degree in Philosophy, Law, & Rhetoric.
From 1998 to 2000, they attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, where they obtained a Masters degree in Public Administration.
In 2012, Shaashawn pursued a Graduate Certificate in Academic Advising in Higher Education from Kansas State University.
Shaashawn'smost recent educational accomplishment was completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Administration and Leadership Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2015 to 2019.
In addition to their academic degrees, Shaashawn has obtained several certifications. In May 2015, they received the LGBTQ Academy Gay Alliance Safe Zone Train-the-Trainer certificate from the LGBTQ Academy Gay Alliance in Rochester, New York. In May 2015, they also obtained a certificate from the Gay Wedding Institute Certificate Program offered by 14 Stories. In May 2016, they became a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise through the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). In September 2018, they obtained the Certified LGBT Business Enterprise designation from the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). In February 2017, Shaashawn received the Minority Business Enterprise certification from the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council. Finally, in May 2021, they obtained a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
