Shannon Liew has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and legal fields. Shannon is currently working as a Supervising RN - Clinical Operations at Planned Parenthood Great Plains. Prior to this, from 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Clinical Training Coordinator at the Take Control Initiative. In the past, they held the position of Illinois SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Coordinator at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General from 2009 to 2013. Before that, they served as the Senior Director of Crisis Response and Outreach Services and SANE Coordinator at YWCA Oklahoma City from 2006 to 2009. Shannon also worked as a Staff Registered Nurse at the OU Medical Center Emergency Department/Trauma Center from 2005 to 2006. At the beginning of their career, they worked as a Registered Nurse and Reproductive Health Assistant at Planned Parenthood from 2001 to 2005.

Shannon Liew pursued their education in a sequential manner. In 1997, they enrolled in the University of Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology/Biological Sciences in 2001. After a brief break, they attended Rush University in 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. Shannon's pursuit of further education led their to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where they began their Doctorate of Nursing Practice program in 2019. Shannon is expected to graduate from this program in 2024.
