Marianny Sánchez

Marianny Sánchez has a diverse and extensive work experience history. Marianny is currently working at Planned Parenthood Federation of America as the Director of Communications for Latin America, a position they have held since 2022. Prior to this role, they were the Associate Director of Communications Latin America at the same organization from 2021 to 2022.

Before joining Planned Parenthood, Marianny worked at UN Women from 2016 to 2021 as the Gestora del conocimiento e Innovación, where they implemented strategies for knowledge management and innovation. Marianny focused on making technical information accessible for decision-making in gender and women's rights.

In 2015, Marianny served as a Professor at Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano in the Programa Comunicación Social y Cine. Marianny taught there until 2017.

Marianny also has experience as a freelance journalist and columnist, working for the section Miradas and as a columnist in the section Soberanías Sexuales for Revista Épale CCS from 2013 to 2014.

From 2013 to 2014, Marianny was the Director of Medios at the Ministerio para las Comunas y los Movimientos Sociales in Venezuela. Marianny played a key role in designing and implementing a new editorial line and media plan for the organization.

Marianny also served as the Coordinadora de la Defensoría de los Lectores at El Nacional, a national newspaper in Venezuela, from 2009 to 2010. Marianny'sresponsibilities included ensuring ethical and accurate journalistic practices and addressing readers' complaints and comments.

Lastly, in 2008, Marianny worked as an Analista de Gestión cultural at Fundación Cultural Chacao, where they were involved in the communication and promotion of cultural events.

Marianny Sánchez has a Licentiate degree in Communication and Media Studies from Universidad Central de Venezuela, which they completed from 2003 to 2009. Marianny then pursued a Master's degree in Ethnic, Cultural Minority, Gender, and Group Studies from Universidad de Cádiz, attending from 2010 to 2011. Later, they obtained another Master's degree in Cultural Studies/Critical Theory and Analysis from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where they studied from 2012 to 2015.
