Wandalyn Savala has a diverse work experience in the public health sector. Wandalyn began their career at Chicago House & Social Services Agency in 2011 as an HIV Health Educator & Counselor, providing workshops and interventions for HIV prevention. Wandalyn then took on various roles within the organization, including Youth Prevention Program Coordinator and Social Media Project Coordinator. In these roles, they developed outreach initiatives and recruitment strategies for HIV prevention among young men who have sex with men.

In 2012, they obtained a certification in HIV Drug Adherence Counseling from MATEC. Furthermore, in 2011, they received certifications in Chicago Female Condom Training Corp from the Chicago Female Condom Campaign, CLEAR Counseling from the Mississippi STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, and HIV Prevention Counseling & Testing from the Chicago Department of Public Health.
