Paulien Smits is a Biomedical Officer at Plasmacure since February 2017, contributing to the development of the CE-certified medical device PLASOMA for chronic wound treatment through bactericidal cold atmospheric plasma. Prior to this role, Paulien served as a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology from April 2013 to January 2017, focusing on biomedical applications of cold atmospheric pressure plasmas in disinfection and wound healing. Paulien's earlier experience includes working as a Regulatory Affairs Project Manager at Synthon from November 2009 to April 2013, managing regulatory activities for human medicines, as well as serving as a Junior Researcher at Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen from January 2006 to April 2009, where research centered on genetic defects in metabolic disorders. Paulien holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Radboud University, obtained from 2000 to 2005, and completed Gymnasium at Titus Brandsma Lyceum from 1993 to 1999.
