Tony Mauro

Tony Mauro has a diverse background in the technology industry, with a focus on IoT and connected solutions. Tony began their career as a Co-op Student in Technical Services at the University of Victoria. Tony then worked as a Junior Programmer at SHL Systemhouse before joining TELUS Mobility as a Technology Development Engineer. At TELUS, Tony held various roles including Service Architect, Lead Engineer for Future Friendly Home, and Product Manager for Mobile Computing and Consumer Products.

Tony's experience in IoT and connected solutions continued at BC Hydro, where they worked as a Specialist Engineer. Tony was involved in energy management for the residential sector, including in-home products and technology, energy retrofits, and new building construction. Tony also provided technical expertise in the development of specifications for the Smart Metering team.

Tony later joined Powertech as a Specialist Engineer, focusing on IoT and connected solutions for electric utilities and smart cities. Tony championed opportunities in smart meter infrastructure, smart lighting, and demand response at a residential level. Tony also played a key role in designing, implementing, and testing these solutions.

In their most recent role as Chief Technology Officer at Plasmatic Technologies Inc., Tony led the Engineering and Development team in creating a smart home platform for electric utilities and insurance companies. Tony oversaw the development of a serverless platform to manage IoT data, a React Dashboard for management, and a React Native application for customers to connect with their smart home and service provider.
