Michel Chamlati

Michel Chamlati is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the financial services and technology sectors. Currently serving as the Chief Legal Officer at Plata Card since October 2022, Michel plays a vital role in supporting the company's mission to enhance the financial lives of Mexican consumers. Prior to this, Michel held the position of General Counsel at Assurant from June 2017 to March 2023, overseeing the legal department and managing legal affairs for Assurant and its legacy entity, The Warranty Group, where responsibilities included legal, compliance, and risk matters across Latin America. Michel also served as Vice President and Managing Counsel for Latin America at The Warranty Group, focusing on legal issues in multiple countries including Mexico and Brazil. A former Legal Vice President at American Express Company Mexico, Michel managed legal and corporate matters for various entities throughout Latin America, and began a legal career at Berkman Asociados Law Firm, specializing in civil and commercial litigation. Michel Chamlati holds a Doctor in Laws from Universidad Panamericana and a Bachelor of Laws from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
