Joey Stanford

Joey Stanford has extensive experience in data privacy and compliance. Joey currently holds the position of VP, Data Privacy & Compliance at Platform.sh, where they serve as the global head of privacy, risk, and audit. Joey is responsible for ensuring compliance with various regulations and frameworks, including GDPR, PCI DSS, SOC2, and CCPA/CPRA. Their role also involves managing a bug bounty program, establishing privacy and security policies, and performing business impact analysis.

Prior to their current role, Joey worked at Canonical Ltd. as an IT Risk & Compliance Manager, where they coordinated contract reviews, conducted security reviews, and led certification efforts. Joey also served as BootStack Delivery Manager at Canonical Ltd., where they developed and managed delivery lifecycle processes.

Joey has also worked at various other organizations, including Front Range Community College, Ecole Supérieure Robert de Sorbon, Upsun, Reference Technologies, Linaro, US Department of Health and Human Services, and IBM.

Joey Stanford has a diverse education history. In 1984, they obtained a Regents degree in Science from Red Hook High School. Joey went on to complete their bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Marist College from 1988 to 1992. Joey then pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at Canterbury University from 1993 to 1995.

Continuing their education, Joey attended Denver Technical College from 1997 to 1998, specializing in Project Management. In 1999, they studied Advanced Project Management at Stanford University.

In 2003, Joey briefly attended the School for International Training to study Esperanto. However, their focus shifted to pursuing higher education in the field of Information Technology, and they enrolled in École Supérieure Robert de Sorbon. Joey obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Information Technology from École Supérieure Robert de Sorbon in an unmentioned time frame.

Additionally, Joey acquired certifications throughout their career. Joey became a Certified Professional Consultant to Management in November 1998, a Project Management Professional in August 1998, and a Certified Management Consultant in December 2004. Notably, in 2017 and 2020, they earned the Certified Information Security Manager and the Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer certifications, respectively.

Joey also holds multiple certifications focusing on fostering a positive workplace environment, such as Preventing Discrimination & Harassment, Creating a Respectful Remote Workplace, and Cultural Competence in the Workplace.
