Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative

Platte-Clay Electric Co-op is a member-owned rural electric cooperative serving residents and businesses in a seven county area that stretches loosely in a rectangle north of metropolitan Kansas City. The service area includes Clay and Platte Counties, with the most population, and the contiguous rural areas in Buchanan, Caldwell, Clinton, DeKalb and Ray Counties. Platte-Clay offers a variety of products, including Marathon water heaters and Kohler back-up generators, as well as services including security and fuels through its affiliated companies, PCEC Security and Platte-Clay Fuels, with stations in Kearney and Platte City. Platte-Clay began operations in 1938 and today is among the fastest-growing cooperatives in Missouri. The co-op provides 24 x 7 x 365 service through its website and round-the-clock emergency dispatching and repair service. Platte-Clay is associated with Touchstone Energy, a national alliance of local, member-owned electric cooperatives serving primarily rural customers (members) in 46 states. The member-owned rural electric cooperatives now represent the largest electric utility network in the U.S., serving some 75 percent of the U.S. land mass with more than 2.4 million miles of power lines delivering electricity to more than 30 million members each day.
