Joe Palermo has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Joe is currently serving as the Vice President of New Product Design for PlayPower, Inc., where they oversee new product development and innovation for the world's largest commercial playground manufacturer. Joe leads a team of 42 professionals in concept and industrial design, engineering, R&D, and project management for several renowned brands.

Prior to their current role, Joe worked as the Director of Industrial Design at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., focusing on hand tools, accessories, and storage. Joe also held the position of Director of Design & Engineering at TOMY International, where they led the design and engineering teams for MIT brands and successfully managed the new product development process.

Earlier in their career, Joe worked as an Industrial Design Manager at Newell Brands, where they led various projects for home appliances and cookware. Joe also served as a Senior Industrial Designer at Newell Brands, specializing in the development of heat styling tools under the Goody brand.

Joe's work experience also includes roles as an Industrial Designer at BernzOmatic, Newell Rubbermaid, and ELEVEN, A Culture of Design. Joe gained valuable experience and contributed to projects for clients such as Aspen Pet, Burton Snowboards, Microsoft, and Nike/Bauer.

Joe Palermo received their Bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati, where they studied from 1998 to 2003. In addition to their degree, they obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2005, they became a Certified Fitness Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). In 2007, they received a certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer from the American Aerobic Association International (AAAI) and International Sports Medicine Association (ISMA). Later, in 2014, Joe obtained a Certificate in Innovation & Design Thinking from the University of Cincinnati. Most recently, in 2022, they became a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) through the National Recreation and Park Association.
