Senior Data Engineer at Plex Systems

Andrew Freckelton started their work experience in 2007 as a Web Developer at K. M. Carsley & Associates, where they developed and optimized digital presence for clients, including building a website for a major international steel processing company.

In 2008, Andrew joined Plex Systems, Inc. as a Software Engineer Co-op. Andrew designed and developed codebase management tooling to facilitate sustainable evolution of a large ERP software suite, which resulted in a significant reduction in codebase size and technical debt, reducing the cost and time frame of following modernization projects.

Andrew then transitioned to the role of Software Engineer - Supply Chain Management at Plex Systems, Inc. in July 2012. Andrew was responsible for the development and maintenance of the Supply Chain Management software within an extensive ERP software suite. Andrew also established a grassroots tech talk series that grew from a half dozen to over 100 weekly participants, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and introducing new technical concepts.

In March 2017, Andrew became a Data Engineer at Plex Systems, Inc. Andrew developed and supported a multi-tenant data warehouse, collaborated with stakeholders to develop dimensional data models, and built and maintained ETL pipelines using T-SQL and C#.

In March 2018, Andrew was promoted to the role of Senior Data Engineer at Plex Systems, Inc. In this role, they led a remote, agile team in modernizing legacy data applications and driving the advancement of DevOps culture and tooling throughout the organization. Andrew improved the release cadence from 1 month to minutes by implementing Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and introduced product administration REST APIs to eliminate tedious processes.

Andrew Freckelton earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Kettering University, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Andrew has also obtained several certifications from Microsoft, including MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, and Microsoft Certified Professional: Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014. The certifications were obtained in 2017 and 2021.
