Niamh O'Connor

Niamh O'Connor has a diverse work experience in the publishing industry. Niamh has served as the Chief Publishing Officer at the Public Library of Science (PLOS), where they led the Publishing & Partnerships group and focused on promoting Open Science and developing new business models. Niamh also held positions as the Director of Global Journals Development and Journals Publishing Director at PLOS.

Prior to their work at PLOS, Niamh was actively involved in the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP). Niamh served as the Chair and Treasurer of ALPSP, contributing to the advancement of the organization's objectives.

Before their tenure at ALPSP, Niamh worked at the Portland Press/Biochemical Society as the Director of Publishing and Head of Publishing. In these roles, they provided strategic leadership, developed business plans, and engaged with scientific and publishing communities to enhance the profile and reputation of the organization.

Niamh also has a strong background in publishing at the Royal Society of Chemistry. Niamh held various positions such as Publisher, Editor, Deputy Editor, and Technical Editor, where they played a crucial role in driving the business, developing editorial strategies, and establishing international networks within the scientific community.

Niamh O'Connor attended University College Cork from 1992 to 2002, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a PhD in Chemistry.
