Ricardo Álvarez-Cienfuegos Cercas has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. In 2017, Ricardo joined ICEX, the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Los Angeles, as an International Trade Advisor. In this role, they supported Spanish companies looking to expand into the United States and attracted foreign investment opportunities to Spain. Ricardo's responsibilities included business analysis, market research, event organization, and identifying investment prospects.
In 2018, Ricardo took on the role of Expansion and Internationalization Manager at ZeClinics, a biotech startup specializing in drug discovery through Zebrafish. Their main focus was on internationalizing the company and developing strategies for market entry into the United States. Ricardo conducted market research, competitor analysis, and negotiated sales partnerships. Additionally, Ricardo dealt with government institutions and sought private funding for the company's growth.
Prior to their current role, Ricardo worked as a Fintech Associate at Plug and Play Tech Center, a global innovation platform that connects startups with corporations. Ricardo recently transitioned to the position of Partner Success Manager, where they oversee the success and growth of corporate partners.

Ricardo Álvarez-Cienfuegos Cercas holds a Master's degree from ICEX-CECO, which was obtained between 2015 and 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a Double Degree in Business Management and Law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 2007 to 2013. In 2011 to 2012, they also attended Fontys University of Applied Sciences, where they studied International Business Consultancy. In terms of additional certifications, Ricardo obtained the Venture Deals Fall 2020 certification from Kauffman Fellows in November 2020.
