Elijah Shoemake

Senior Engineer, Hydrogen Plant Design at Plug Power

Elijah Shoemake has a diverse work experience, starting with their current position as a Senior Engineer in Hydrogen Plant Design at Plug Power since October 2021. Prior to that, they worked at The Protium Company from January 2015 to October 2021, where they held the roles of Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder. At The Protium Company, Elijah was involved in the development of hydrogen storage, liquefaction, and transportation technologies.

Before joining The Protium Company, Elijah worked at Washington State University from 2013 to 2017. Elijah served as a Teaching Assistant for Engineering Design and Experimental Design courses, where they guided students in their projects, ensured lab safety, and provided assistance with experimental design. Additionally, they worked as a Research Assistant on a Department of Energy funded grant, focusing on improving hydrogen liquefaction cycles.

Prior to their time at Washington State University, Elijah gained experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Hydrogen Properties for Energy Research Laboratory. Elijah contributed to the design and testing of liquid hydrogen fuel tanks and presented their work at conferences.

Elijah also has experience in graphic design, having worked for the American Association of Teachers of German, and has worked as a tutor at Washington State University GEAR UP.

Elijah Shoemake completed their education with a high school diploma from Moses Lake High School in 2010. Elijah then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University, graduating in 2014. Continuing their academic journey, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university in 2018.
