Raluca Marcu

Raluca Marcu has a diverse work experience background. Raluca is currently employed at Pluristyx, Inc. as the Director of Research since June 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Associate Director of Research from June 2021 to May 2022. Before joining Pluristyx, Inc., Raluca worked as a Senior Scientist at the same company from July 2019 to June 2021 and as a Scientist from January 2019 to June 2019.

Prior to their work at Pluristyx, Inc., Raluca worked as a Research Scientist at the University of Washington, Kidney Research Institute from September 2018 to January 2019. Raluca also served as a Senior Research Fellow at San Raffaele Scientific Institute from February 2017 to November 2017.

Raluca has extensive postdoctoral experience. Raluca worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington, Mitochondria and Metabolism Center and Center for Cardiovascular Biology from September 2010 to March 2016. During this time, their research focused on calcium signaling in vascular inflammation and angiogenesis, as well as mitochondrial retrograde signaling.

Raluca's academic journey began as a PhD student at the IEO Istituto Europeo di Oncologia / European Institute of Oncology from January 2006 to March 2010. Their research as a PhD student included studying metabolic and mitochondrial functions in tumor models, as well as utilizing electrochemical techniques to understand tumor cells' metabolism and reactive oxygen species.
