Monica Merritt, Ed.D., is an experienced educator and administrator currently serving as the Superintendent of Schools for Plymouth-Canton Community Schools since July 2011. Prior roles include Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Labor Relations, Executive Director of Human Resources at Ypsilanti Public Schools, and Principal at West Middle School. Merritt has a strong background in human resource operations, labor relations, and professional development, with notable achievements such as negotiating substantial cost savings in district contracts and developing a comprehensive staff recruitment plan. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education from Michigan State University, a Specialist Certificate in Secondary Administration from Wayne State University, a Master's in Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, both from Virginia Commonwealth University.
