About the role: PMAT is seeking a Software Project Manager to oversee and drive software development projects from conception to delivery. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products on time, within scope, and budget. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, leadership, and project management skills to navigate complex project landscapes, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, facilitating communication across departments.
  • Oversee project backlog, prioritizing tasks to ensure progress and alignment with objectives.
  • Manage project budget, tracking expenses, and ensuring efficient resource use.
  • Conduct post-release monitoring, gathering user feedback, and organizing post-mortem reviews.
  • Track KPIs to measure project success, driving continuous improvements.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project).
  • Familiarity with software development tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker) and understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proven leadership experience with cross-functional teams in a project management capacity.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills and experience in risk and issue management.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced experience with Agile tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and deployment (AWS preferred).
  • Familiarity with automated testing and QA processes.
  • Experience in managing budgets and productivity metrics in project environments.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile certification is highly desirable.

Citizenship and Clearance requirement: U.S. Citizenship, Top Secret SCI CI Poly

Location: Aurora, CO – Hybrid, 50% remote, 50% on site.

Travel: Under 20%

Work Environment:

PMAT offices as needed.  Remote work is also acceptable depending on location and access to a PMAT office.  In some cases, work in a government facility may be required.  Travel will be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
