Joel Powell

Joel Powell has a long history of experience in software engineering and development. Joel began their career in 2005 as Vice President of Product Development at INVIA Medical Imaging Solutions. In 2007, they took on the role of Director of Operations at Borders Group, Inc. where they were responsible for the stability, performance, and operation of Borders.com and Borders Search 2. In 2009, they became Director of Technology at Cengage Learning, where they were responsible for the delivery of products supporting K-12, Higher Education, and Library markets. In 2013, they became Director of Software Development at McCreadie Group, Inc. and Owner at Eighth Note Software. In 2015, they took on the role of Application Development and Support Manager at Lake Trust Credit Union. In 2016, they became Vice President of Information Technology at RepairClinic.com, where they were responsible for leveraging technology to provide growth, stability, and the best possible content management, supply chain processes, and eCommerce experience. In 2018, they became Software Development Manager at WorkForce Software, participating in the transformation of the business and the introduction of CI/CD using Docker, Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, and more. In 2019, they began working as Principal Software Engineer at pocketnest, contributing as a full-stack developer. Finally, in 2020, they took on the role of Director of Software Engineering - Data Protection at Barracuda.

Joel Powell attended Eastern Michigan University from 1982 to 1983. In 2018, they completed a React Nanodegree from Udacity, where they studied React and React Native.
