Nikolai Sopko, MD, PhD has a diverse work experience. Nikolai currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Scientific Officer at PolarityTE since 2018. Before that, they served as the CAP Accredited Lab Director at Arches Research from January 2020 to August 2023. Prior to these roles, they worked at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as a Urologic Surgery Resident and Scientist from July 2013 to June 2018, and as a General Surgery Intern from July 2012 to July 2013. Additionally, they worked at Cleveland Clinic as a Transplant Specialist from January 2005 to May 2012, and as a Graduate Student from June 2006 to September 2010. Nikolai also gained experience as a Cancer Research Training Awardee at the National Cancer Institutes (NCI) from June 2003 to July 2004.

Nikolai Sopko, MD, PhD, began their education journey in 1999 at Case Western Reserve University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and German. Nikolai successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2003. In the following year, from 2003 to 2004, Sopko attended the National Institutes of Health Graduate School, focusing on Proteomics.

Subsequently, Sopko returned to Case Western Reserve University to pursue their higher education. From 2004 to 2012, they simultaneously pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Stem Cell Biology and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). Sopko successfully completed both degrees at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
