João Victor Rocha earned a PhD in Dynamics of Health and Welfare from Nova University Lisbon-Portugal and Linköping University, Sweden. He holds a MSc in business administration and a bachelor’s in actuarial sciences, both from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
João has more than ten years of experience in the field of public health. He worked on projects commissioned by Brazil’s Ministry of Health to obtain and analyze evidence to assess health care services on different levels of care. He later worked as a researcher at a university in Portugal. In this capacity, he worked in collaboration with national governmental entities on the analysis and review of hospital production and financing and on the standardization and implementation of an international survey on primary care quality indicators. Joao’s experience includes writing study protocols and conducting real-world data analysis with pharmaceutical companies. He is skilled in conducting data analysis and literature reviews, developing grant proposals and study protocols, and elaborating scientific texts and reports, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations in conferences.
Joao’s experience includes a three-month internship at the World Health Organization’s European Centre for Primary Health Care, working on health policy-oriented research on comparative assessment of health services delivery performance; a one-year position as a postdoctoral researcher at the National School for Public Health/Portugal for an EU-funded project, collaborating in the outputs of the project and assisting in the project management; and as invited lecturer for varied courses and topics at universities in Brazil and Portugal. He is fluent in English and Portuguese and has advanced knowledge of Spanish, and is based in Portugal.
