Bo Fan, Ph.D.

Research And Development Scientist at PolyActiva

Bo Fan, Ph.D. has a strong background in research and development. They currently work as a Research and Development Scientist at PolyActiva, starting in August 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Fellow at Monash University from July 2018 to August 2022. In this role, they focused on developing new polymers with special functional groups for mineral beneficiations. They also gained domestic and international research cooperation opportunities.

Before joining Monash University, Bo Fan completed their Ph.D. at Western University, where they explored the applications of controlled degradable polymeric materials. During their time there, they participated in more than 10 research projects, including synthesis of polyglyoxylates, end-capping strategies, and photo-controlled solid degradation. They also worked on developing multi-responsive nanoparticles for drug delivery, thermal-responsive assemblies, and plants stimuli-responsive coatings for fertilizer.

In addition to their Ph.D., Bo Fan also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during their time at Western University. They instructed students in basic organic, inorganic, and biochemical engineering experiments, prepared solutions for laboratory classes, and answered questions in tutorial sessions. Prior to their Ph.D., Bo Fan was a Master's student at Western University.

Bo Fan, Ph.D. has a strong educational background in engineering and chemistry. They completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Polymer/Plastics Engineering at Sichuan University from 2008 to 2012. Following this, they pursued their Master's degree in Chemistry at Western University from 2013 to 2014. Bo then continued their studies at Western University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering from 2015 to 2018.

In addition to their academic achievements, Bo has also acquired several certifications. They obtained a Worker Health and Safety Certificate from Western University in 2013. In 2015, they completed Biosafety Training at the same institution. Bo received a CAD Primary Certificate from CAD Training Network Center of P.R. China in 2009. Later, in 2016, they obtained the WHIMS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification. Their most recent certification is Good Writing Practices, obtained from SeerPharma in February 2023.
