Martijn Steijvers has extensive work experience in process engineering, particularly in the field of innovative medical devices based on bioresorbable polymers. Martijn worked at Polyganics BV twice, first as a Process Engineer from August 2008 to September 2015, and then as a Lead Process Engineer starting in September 2019. At PolyVation, they served as a Sr. Process Engineer from October 2015 to September 2019, focusing on the engineering, validation, scale-up, troubleshooting, and improvement of production processes for biomedical and pharmaceutical polymers. Before that, they were a Process Engineer at Nedmag Industries from May 2007 to August 2008, responsible for quality control and energy consumption reduction in the Dead Burned Magnesium production. Martijn also worked as a Process Engineer at Hycail B.V., where they developed and produced biodegradable polymer resins, from August 2000 to April 2006. Additionally, they gained experience as a Chemist/Technician at Givaudan and as a Graduate Intern at S.C. Johnson Polymer.
Martijn Steijvers attended Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen from 1994 to 1999. Martijn obtained a degree in Chemical Technology and Process Engineering, with the degree name of Ing. / BSc.
In terms of additional certifications, Martijn has obtained various certifications over the years. In 2002, they obtained a certification in Coachend Leiderschap from De Winter Consultancy. In 2006, they obtained the VOL VCA Veiligheid voor operationeel leidinggevenden certification from Havas adviesburo voor veiligheid en arbeidsomstandigheden, and the Voldoende onderricht persoon NEN-EN 50110 / NEN3140 (VOP) certification from van der Heide. Martijn also became a Vapro Bedrijfsexaminator/Begeleider certified by VAPRO in 2006.
In 2007, Martijn obtained the US FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices certification from Degens Quality Solutions. In 2009, they obtained the Workshop 'Help, ik ben installatieverantwoordelijke' certification from van der Heide. In 2010, they obtained the Begeleiden in een CGO omgeving LAB and Beoordelen in een CGO omgeving LAB certifications from Kenniscentrum PMLF.
In 2011, Martijn obtained the Inleiding GMP; Elementen van een kwaliteitssysteem, Procescontrole certification from QualiSense, as well as the Vacuumtechniek & gebruik vacuumpompen en vacuummeters certification from Vactec. In 2012, they obtained the Batch Release Management (ISO2859, ISO3951) certification from Schouten & Nelissen, and the Gmp training; Operationele controle certification from QualiSense.
In 2013, Martijn obtained the Minitab Essentials, Statistic Quality Essentials, Factorial Designs, DOE in practice certification from Minitab Ltd. In 2014, they obtained the Kwaliteitsbeheersing Medical Devices vlgs. ISO 13485 en ISO 14971 certification from Springest, the Bediening in Top Control certification from Priva, and the GMP QMS - Cleanroom training (MD Project BV) certification from MD Project BV.
In 2016, Martijn obtained the Greenbelt lean six sigma (theory only, not completed) certification from Healthy Ageing Network Northern Netherlands. In 2018, they obtained the PGS 15 opslag gevaarlijke stoffen certification from BMD Advies Oost. In 2021, they obtained the Explosieveiligheid en bewustwording (ATEX awareness) certification from IAB Ingenieurs. Lastly, in 2022, they obtained the Process Design, Scale-up and Technology Transfer for Medical Devices certification from Symmetric Training.
