Kathleen Mogelgaard has a diverse work experience in the fields of population and climate change. Kathleen currently serves as the President and CEO of the Population Institute since May 2021. Prior to this role, they were a Senior Fellow at the Population Institute from February 2018 to April 2021. Additionally, Kathleen has worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, teaching in the Federal Fellows Program from August to December 2020, and in the Honors College from January 2015 to May 2020. Kathleen also worked as a Lead Researcher and Writer at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) from July 2018 to May 2019. Kathleen had a Principal role at KAM Consulting, LLC from January 2012 to April 2021, and served as an Associate at the World Resources Institute's Climate Resilience Practice from October 2014 to October 2018. Furthermore, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland in the Federal Semester Program from August 2010 to December 2011. Prior to that, Kathleen held the position of Senior Advisor at Population Action International from September 2008 to December 2011. Additionally, they served as an Assistant Director of Government Relations at the National Audubon Society from February 2007 to August 2008. Lastly, Kathleen worked as a Consultant - E-learning Course Developer at USAID in November 2006 to February 2007.
Kathleen Mogelgaard completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Science at William & Mary from 1991 to 1995. Later, they pursued their Master's degree in Public Policy (MPP) from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan from 2001 to 2004. In that same period, they also obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree from the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan.
