Matthew Thacker

Matthew Thacker is the Director of Global Security and Safeguarding at Population Services International. He directs the strategic and operational safety and oversees security decisions that impact PSI staff across its entire network, as well as leading PSI’s efforts in preventing safeguarding abuses in PSI’s programs globally. Prior to joining PSI in 2013, Matthew worked in a number of humanitarian and development organizations. He has worked on the ground in over 40 countries conducting risk assessments, trainings, emergency responses, and operating in war zones and post-conflict areas. Additionally, Matthew has presented at multiple conferences around security management and on investigating safeguarding allegations. Matthew holds a Master’s degree in International Studies, and brings a strong analytical and systems-oriented approach to safety and security management. He is fluent in French.
