Brien M. O'Brien is the current Chairman & CEO at Port Capital. Brien has over 28 years of experience in the investment management industry.

Brien started their career at Marquette Associates in 1986, where they served as Chairman and CEO for 10 years. In 1996, they joined Advisory Research, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer. Under their leadership, the firm became one of the leading value investment management firms in the country. In 2010, Advisory Research was purchased by Piper Jaffray, Inc. Following this acquisition, Brien served on the Executive Management Committee of Piper Jaffray, where they were responsible for the firm’s global asset management activities.

In 2014, Brien left Piper Jaffray to join Port Capital as Chairman & CEO. Port Capital is an independent investment management firm that specializes in small and mid-cap growth equity investments. The firm is headquartered in Boston, MA.
