Dwayne Chidi Tobias has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Dwayne Chidi began their career as a Civil Engineer at Lee Young and Partners from October 1994 to March 1997. Dwayne Chidi then joined the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) in March 1997, where they managed the Civil/Building Section of the Engineering Department and was responsible for the maintenance of various infrastructure projects. In January 2005, they were promoted to Chief Engineer at SLASPA, overseeing the Civil/Building and Mechanical/Electrical & Air Condition Sections of the Engineering Department. In this role, they managed infrastructure, services, and equipment maintenance at multiple locations. Dwayne Chidi also represented the Authority on technical committees and was responsible for design, construction, and project management of infrastructural projects, as well as contract and procurement management. After a successful tenure at SLASPA, Dwayne joined the City of North Miami Beach in January 2018 as a Civil Engineer. In this role, they reviewed designs and plans for roadway and storm drainage projects, managed the maintenance of stormwater infrastructure, roadways, and sidewalks, and oversaw the permit review and inspection processes. Currently, as of December 2022, Dwayne works as a Construction Project Manager at Port Everglades.

Dwayne Chidi Tobias has a Master of Science degree in Coastal Engineering and Port Development, which they obtained from UNESCO IHE from 1998 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from 1991 to 1994.
