Michael Cosgrove

Michael Cosgrove currently serves as the Executive Lead for Finance and Commercial Operations at Port Macquarie Hastings Council, a position held since January 2024. Prior to this role, Michael Cosgrove had an extensive career at Defence Australia where responsibilities included Assistant Secretary of Budgeting and Reporting, Director of Commonwealth Budget Coordination, Director of the Program Management Branch, and Assistant Director of Engagement and Strategy from October 2017 to January 2024. Earlier experience includes a brief tenure at the Australian Government Department of Finance as Assistant Director of the Shared Services Program and at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet as an Advisor on Commonwealth-State Relations. Michael Cosgrove also held several roles in the Australian Government Department of Finance from January 2010 to February 2016, including Assistant Director of Government Business Transformation and Budget Analyst. Educational qualifications include a Master of Public Policy from The Australian National University and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New England.
