Alexandra Howard

Alexandra Howard has a diverse work experience in the field of policy management and planning. Alexandra is currently working as a Senior Policy Manager at the Port of Portland since July 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Program Development Manager - Resilience at the Port of Portland from October 2019 to July 2022.

Before joining the Port of Portland, Alexandra worked at the City of Portland in various roles. Alexandra served as a Strategic Policy and Projects Manager (Analyst III) from January 2017 to October 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Facilities Project Manager from September 2015 to January 2018. In addition, Alexandra also worked as a Project Coordinator from July 2009 to September 2015, where they managed the Powell-Division Transit and Development Project and engaged in activities such as grant management, community relationship building, and land use planning. Alexandra'searliest role at the City of Portland was as a City Planner II from June 2007 to July 2009.

Earlier in their career, Alexandra worked at Washington County as an Associate Planner from January 2005 to June 2007. In this role, they reviewed development project applications and presented staff recommendations at public hearings.

Alexandra's career began at the City of Culver City - Redevelopment and Planning, where they worked as an Assistant Planner and Planning Technician from June 2001 to January 2005. During this time, they were involved in managing a redevelopment project, preparing reports, reviewing plans, and writing development standards.

Throughout their work experience, Alexandra has gained expertise in policy management, program development, project coordination, and land use planning.

Alexandra Howard obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Reed College, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Following that, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Urban Planning from UCLA - School of Public Affairs, completing their studies from 2000 to 2002. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained an Introduction to Incident Command System - ICS-100 certification from FEMA in March 2020 and an Institute of Asset Management Certificate from The Institute of Asset Management in January 2016.
