Michael Alexander

Michael Alexander is the Comission Vice President at the Port of Portland. Michael has dedicated their career to improving outcomes for African Americans and other underserved communities.

Alexander began their career in civil rights with The Urban League of Portland, where they served as President and CEO from September 2012 to May 2015. Michael was responsible for leadership of the Portland affiliate of the National Urban League.

In November 2005, Alexander joined Cambia Health Solutions (formerly The Regence Group) as VP, Acct Mgt. Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield. In this role, they were responsible for development and oversight of key account retention strategies. Michael also represented Regence Plans to multiple BCBSA groups and work teams.

In March 1999, Alexander joined Magellan Behavioral Health as SVP Account Management. In this role, they were responsible for channel management and key account management for Aetna Retirement Services.

Alexander has been a Comission Vice President at the Port of Portland since May 1997. Michael is responsible for the development and implementation of the port's business plan and budget, as well as for its financial operations.

Michael Alexander received their B.A. in Sociology from Lewis University and then went on to get their MSS in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College, Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.
