Karin Zaugg Black

Karin Zaugg Black is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in international business protocol and communications. Currently serving as the International Business Protocol Liaison for the Port of Seattle since December 2016, Karin advises on protocol matters for international delegations and supports various business lines within the port. Previously, Karin held the position of President at the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association for 18 years, facilitating cultural exchanges and events. Karin's background includes roles such as Communications Director for the Office of Economic Development in Seattle and the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, where strategic communications were prioritized. Karin’s career began in Japan, working in international relations for the City of Kobe and as the only non-Japanese staff member in the International Division. Educational credentials include a B.A. in Asian Studies from Pomona College and study at Doshisha University.
