Senior Director Of Security /designated FSO at Port Tampa Bay

Jorge Torres, CPP is a former active-duty member of the US Coast Guard who transitioned to the reserve component in 2009. Jorge served at various Coast Guard units ashore and afloat, including mobilizing to numerous high-profile events of national significance. Torres worked at Port Houston as a Facility Security Manager/Designated FSO from 2009 to 2015 and successfully managed security operations at three Maritime Transportation Security Act-regulated Port of Houston Authority terminals. In 2015, they joined Port Tampa Bay, where they served as Director of Security and as the Port Authority's designated Facility Security Officer. In this role, they were responsible for ensuring the Port's compliance with all maritime security regulatory requirements, managing the port security grant program, directing the day-to-day operation of the security department, and being the Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism program manager. Torres retired as a Senior Chief Marine Science Technician from the USCG Reserve in 2019. Currently, they are a member of the Board of Directors of the Propeller Club - Port of Tampa.

Jorge Torres, CPP holds a Master of Arts degree in Homeland Security and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Security Management, both obtained from American Military University. Jorge also undertook studies in Critical Infrastructure Protection at Texas A&M University but did not obtain a degree. Jorge Torres, CPP completed a course at the U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy - Reserve Class XXXIV. Additionally, they have various certifications, including Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from ASIS International, Facility Security Officer (FSO) from Tampa Port Authority, Law Enforcement Firearm Instructor Handgun/Shotgun from National Rifle Association, Licensed Firearm Instructor from the State of Florida, and Maritime Port Executive (MPE) from IAMPE.
