Ron Close

Ron Close is a Leadership Advisor at Portage Ventures. Concurrently he is also a director or trustee of Maple Leaf Food Inc., Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company and MaRS Discovery District. He has previously served as CEO of Pelmorex Media Inc. (The Weather Network) and as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at The Ivey School of Business.

Ron’s other previous executive positions span from start-ups (CEO/co-founder of NetCom Canada, Inc.) to large corporations (President of BCE’s Bell New Ventures unit). His previous directorships include Pelmorex, The Globe and Mail, Canada Media Fund, CTVglobemedia and MaRS Innovation.

Ron’s non-profit activities include past chairmanship of the Toronto chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and current membership in the World Presidents Organization (WPO).
