Michael Schultz, PhD

Michael Schultz, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Michael is currently working at Portal Innovations, LLC, where they have held the positions of Analyst in Venture Operations and Associate in Venture Operations since September 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Analyst at Health Advances from September 2020 to September 2021.

Michael also has academic research experience, having served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School from June 2019 to September 2020 and as a PhD Candidate from August 2012 to May 2019. Michael was also a Research Assistant at the Ben-Shahar Lab in Washington University in St. Louis from January 2010 till the present.

In addition, Michael has gained experience in consulting through their involvement with the Harvard Graduate Volunteer Consulting Group, where they were a Principal from January 2019 to April 2019, and an Associate Consultant from October 2018 to December 2018. Michael also interned as a Scientist at OvaScience in July 2015.

Michael's earlier work experience includes being a Program Leader for Campus Y Catalyst at Washington University Campus YMCA from January 2010 to the present. Michael was responsible for developing curricula, recruiting volunteers, and leading volunteer groups on school visits to encourage middle school students in St. Louis to become interested in science and engineering.

Furthermore, they gained research experience as an Institute of Physiology Summer Intern through the UROP Program at RWTH Aachen University from June 2011 to August 2011. Michael also worked as a Summer Intern at the Membrane Protein Engineering Group in Argonne National Laboratory from June 2009 to August 2010.

Michael Schultz, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Harvard Medical School between the years 2012 to 2019. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree in Biology - Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Washington University in St. Louis from 2008 to 2012.
